About Our Volunteer Program

Volunteers make the world go round!

Our volunteers bring their passion to Three Birds and help us make meaningful contributions to our community as well as the lives of the animals we are so lucky to care for.

As a small family business, Three Birds relies on the dedication of our community members and volunteers who generously share their time and talents in support of our mission to inspire interest in the natural world and to care for the beautiful animals that call it home.

Our volunteer programs connect your unique skills, interests, and strengths with opportunities including caring for a variety of different animals, participating in our non-profit Trillium Path Society, contributing towards community events to inspire the next generations, and more!

We welcome enthusiastic individuals who care deeply about animals and nature, enjoy learning, and are ready to leave their impact by supporting a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Please note: If you have zero experience and would like to work directly with horses, it will take many shifts to complete the training required to work in certain areas.

  • Event passes for family members of volunteers to attend community events
  • Three Birds volunteer T Shirt
  • Discounts for Three Birds programs and memberships
  • Award and recognition programs

  • Opportunities to meet new people and join a friendly community

What do volunteer shifts look like?

Gain experience working with a variety of farm animals while getting an introduction to the day-to-day tasks that come with running a farm!

Our volunteer shifts run for a minimum of 2 hours on a flexible schedule. Shifts would involve participating in some of the daily chores or special projects going on that day as well as having multiple optional activities that will include spending more quality time with the animals.

Examples of activities our volunteers participate in include:

  • Cleaning stalls and habitats
  • Feeding
  • Cleaning water troughs and buckets
  • Grooming
  • Gardening
  • Desensitizing
  • Helping with farm projects
  • Helping with farm events
